Castle Combe evening race series - 7/ 05 / 2010

DRC Member Brendan Lynch took part in the Castle Combe evening race series. "it's been a few years since I rode there and I'd forgotten the sheer excitement of riding in a bunch of 80 riders. The event is handicapped with my group 4th, vets & ladies going off first, followed by 3rds and 2nds at 1/2 a lap then 1st & elites at a lap. With 10 laps to go we were caught by the elites and the speed jumped from 23/25 mph to 25/35 mph, it was like holding a tiger by the tail, I kept looking for another gear. I was on TT effort just sitting in the bunch hanging on. I was pleased to finish in the main bunch who were all sprinting like a Tour finish"
